Information You Enter
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Los Altos Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search terms on its own servers. If you send a message, the contact mailbox receives the content needed to respond.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting providers may record an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and timestamps in ordinary server logs. Those records can be reviewed in aggregate for security, reliability, and broad page-use measures. Cookies or related tools may support basic analytics or, where used, advertising measurement.
How the Data Is Used
Technical data helps operate the pages, find faults, understand general traffic, and improve the reference material. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from these limited records.
External Portals and Links
Pages link to Santa Clara County and California record portals, libraries, archives, and sponsored search tools. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the destination’s privacy policy governs what is submitted there. That distinction is especially important for third-party results providers.
Who May Receive It
Hosting and other service providers may process the technical logs needed to run the site. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Disclosure may also occur when valid legal process requires it; otherwise, the limited data is not shared as a visitor list.
Security and Retention
The connection is encrypted, and server logs are kept only for as long as the purposes above require. No account system exists here, so this service does not hold a reader password or account profile that could be exposed.
Children and Minors
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information to the contact mailbox, use the Contact page so it can be reviewed and deleted.
Your California Choices
California’s CCPA/CPRA, Civil Code §§1798.100-1798.199.100, may provide rights to know or access, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit sensitive-information use, and avoid discrimination for exercising those rights. Because this service retains little, a request normally concerns the contact mailbox or technical logs. Use the Contact page to ask. California state, Santa Clara County, and Los Altos public records remain with their custodians and are outside this service’s control. Those agency records are governed by the California Public Records Act, Government Code §7920.000 et seq., including the determination rule in §7922.535. The state’s DROP platform is the separate route for eligible unified data-broker deletion and do-not-sell requests.
